February 2019 – CIWM has published an article on the importance of H&S statistics to the waste industry, written by Toni Gladding (The Open University, Chair of the CIWM H&S SIG, and WISH forum) and Ceri Beynon (HM Inspector of H&S – Waste and Recycling Team).
The article looks at the picture for 2018, and discusses the place of the waste industry, as it is recognised as one of the worst performers.

The HWMA collates member H&S statistics on a quarterly basis and will be comparing its own statistics to the data presented by CIWM and this article.
